Just to make sure you understand correctly, you produce not only one token, but as many tokens as you have mines (ditto for farms). So in this example of yours, you should ask whether you will have 6 tokens at end of turn or less. And the answer was given above: assuming your blue token bank isn't empty, you will have 6 blue tokens in your mines, but after that corruption may take some of them away.
You can accumulate some amount of tokens on your mines and farms, but you must use enough of them to not get corruption. A bit of corruption once or twice per game is OK, but if you start to face it on a more regular basis, you're playing somewhat sub-optimally.
When he said "I've not used one of my ores" he meant that he had used all but one of his resources and thus had only one left at the end of the turn, so it was correct that he would have 4 after production.
