I am once again grateful to Kim for your contributions, and these have already given us plenty to think about. Yes, I do appreciate your reasoning behind the dice odds. If your opponent’s strategy is to select a *, regardless of other available options, this will skew the probabilities for the following player. Yet, even accepting this caveat, the projection of your particular example still yields odds of 4/8 and 7/8 on alternate turns. Whilst this should offer you plentiful *s, dice will be dice. My variant of course, does allow you a bonus * if you need one. However, I completely understand that you prefer to play with the flexibility of having 2 or 3 bonus *s up your sleeve.I have suggested this variant, principally as a method of ‘smoothing out’ the bonus actions and to breathe life into the spiky and unpopular card-draw bonus. The fact that my variant is foreseen to affect playing strategy, is the stuff of variants. In our limited experiences however, we have not yet encountered any game-breaking consequences.
